What are your available Finish Colors to Finish my Door |
Currently we do not recommend a full factory finish, but instead apply a Sikkens Cetol 1 base coat. This allows you the customer to get the exact color you desire by having the door completely finished on site. However, the following Finishes are available if you agree to finishing terms, please discuss with your sales account manager for further details.
The Sikkens finish we use allows the wood to breath and move. It protects the door against the elements including the UV rays of the sun.
* We have made every effort to display as accurately as possible the colors and finishes. However, the actual colors you see will depend on your monitor.

It is essential to follow strict finishing guidelines and to follow the recommended maintenance schedule of the product you choose to use to insure that your Borano Solid Mahogany Door or Window will keep its structural integrity and beauty for decades. Borano recommends that your investment be finished by a professional master finisher. Our factory recommends Sikkens Cetol 1 door Sealer and Sikkens Door and Window finishing system due to its high UV protection and beauty. If you chose to use another manufacturers product be sure to understand completely the maintenance requirements for that product and adhere to them.
The door must be moved to an inside climate controlled location immediately upon delivery.
Once it is removed from the crate in a climate controlled environment it must be installed within 24 hours. When you are ready to finish the door uninstall it to finish it. Borano requires that the finish is applied to your door or window within the first five days of receipt and that particular attention is paid to sealing all six sides of the door. What Makes Borano Different, Why should I buy a Borano Door? |
Borano breaks the mold of “normal” because we believe that what other manufacturers call “standard” falls far short of perfection. For nearly a decade Borano has been producing handcrafted Mahogany doors, windows, flooring and molding. Our unique product lines are custom tailored to meet the needs of luxury builders, architects and designers, as well as astute homeowners. We provide our customers with the finest True Mahogany available, and we never use imitation Mahogany (African, Luan), or any other inferior wood species in our products. We also never use dowels, pegs, screws or nails for our joinery. Borano utilizes old world Mortise-and-Tenon construction to build our beautiful products, because we believe that quality craftsmanship starts with what you can’t see, and continues to what you can.
The construction process of our products starts with proper kilning of the wood, which is dried and controlled to the correct moisture level at Borano’s factory. While almost all other manufacturers work with pre-dried wood, Borano takes no chances in regards to determining the moisture content of the structural elements of our products. If the moisture in the wood is not exact to standards the wood utilized to construct the door or other wood product will cup and warp over time. Once cupping or warping takes place, there is little or nothing that can be done to correct it.
The butcher block process is the next element of structural importance that is utilized in our construction process. Again used to prevent cupping and warping, this time consuming and costly way to produce stiles and rails is rarely used in today’s door market. Borano elects to construct our products using the butcher block method because it is the right way to build large and small doors alike, ensuring they will last a lifetime.
Our glass panels are custom built at our factory using 4 panes of glass, two layers of resin, and an insulating chamber. The result is a four pane insulated, laminated glass that is a full 3/4 of an inch thick. This glass unit provides each door and window with superior sound deadness, climate control, and security features.
Hand-carved details are the final elements that make a Borano product truly unique. In this business nearly all of our competitors operate with CNC machines. Borano, however, values the quality and craftsmanship that only skilled human hands can produce; therefore, we remain true to old world form by using traditional artisans which allows our custom made products to be crafted exactly as the customer desires.
Last but not least is our custom tailored software application which we utilize at every level of our company. We streamline our production and sales processes through this first class software which enables us to completely control our supply chain management. While we still build each and every product using old world techniques and craftsmanship, we ensure every process is overseen by multiple checks and balance systems, and rigorous quality control. State of the art software, combined with the best of old world techniques, makes Borano products stand far above the rest.

Is there a store in my area where I can see a particular door or window |
Yes Borano has 3 door styles available for you to view in person in a show room in Lodi, New Jersey. People who have been familiar with our web site for years are amazed when they see the actual doors in person. Opening and closing the door is like opening a bank vault door.
Viewing the door in person allows you to see first hand, the thickness of the door, the master craftsmanship, the hand forged iron work. Touching and feeling the doors, seeing the craftsmanship up close, seeing the chisel marks, taping on the glass and hearing that it is like bullet proof shows you that the door you are purchasing from Borano is a quality investment.; that will last for generations to come.
The NJ show room is by appointment only contact one of our Borano team members or your sales account manager for the address and phone number. In addition, our sales team is able to send to qualified patrons, a door corner unit and various other samples, please contact one of our sales account managers for further details. |
Why should I buy a Borano door instead of from a competitor ? |
Apples to apples you will not find a more reasonably priced Mahogany door. Borano doors are 2 ¼” thick, have floating panels, and 4 panes of Glass for sound deadness and insulation. We sell factory direct and will meet or beat any true competitors pricing with a qualifying written quotation. |
My front door is in the direct sunlight for part of the day. I am concerned about the stain on the door fading. |
The stain product that we use is called Sikkens, which is a product designed for exterior wood windows and doors. It is a soft product, which penetrates the wood to preserve it from the elements including the UV rays of the sun. If you are sure to follow all of the manufacturers initial instructions (as well as finish maintenance instructions) and you will not have any issues. |
